A Little Shimmer Goes A Long Way
Snow in April? It’s hard to believe summer is around the corner! I know updating your makeup bag for the warmer months is probably the last thing on your list of things to do but I promise those days will be here before you know it and your winter makeup will be melting off your face. I figured I’d share some of my tips for a nice daytime glow!
✨SKIN✨
Always moisturize! Oily or dry skin, it is a must to start off with moisturizer that targets your skin type although you may need to switch to a lighter formula of your favorite creams or gels. For myself, I am obsessed with Josie Maran’s Whipped Argan Oil all year round (Sephora; $40) or MAC’s Strobe Cream (MAC; $33) to brighten up tired skin.
✨FOUNDATION✨
During the day, it’s not necessary to wear full coverage foundation that’s just going to slip off of your face in the heat. I love Laura Mercier’s Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer. (Sephora or Nordstrom; $45) It’s light and gives you that dewy look without being overdone, setting it with a powder just in areas you wouldn’t want to be extra shiny. If you wanted a little extra coverage instead of using concealors, MAC’s highlighting pens and correctors (MAC; $27) are great for hiding any blemishes or dark pigmentation that need a little extra TLC that the tinted moisturizer doesn’t take care of.
✨BRONZERS AND HIGHLIGHTERS✨
You’ll start to notice a trend with my favorite products. Literally everything I use has some kind of sparkle in it, I love anything glittery but what girl doesn’t?! My favorite all time bronzer for my daytime makeup is actually a darker highlighter 🤫 called Global Glow (MAC; $34) topped off with Show Gold (MAC; $34) to highlight above my cheekbones and nose and maybe a touch under my brow bone. I’ll also throw a light peach or pink blush on the apples of my cheeks just to bring a natural flush to the skin! (Shown in picture, MAC Fairly Precious Extra Dimension Blush; $28)
✨EYE PRODUCTS✨
Less is more with a neutral eye with a touch of sparkle, of course! My palette for everyday is mostly earth tones but I obviously always feel the need to add a dab of shimmer and now with MAC’s newest Dazzleshadows (MAC; $18) there are really just so many options. Spraying your shadow brushes with MAC’s Fix+ Spray (MAC; $26) before dipping into the shadow will add staying power to these shadows and create a nice layer of glimmer on your lids.
LIPS 💋
Finish your look with a flush of color on the lips. For daytime keep it nice and subtle with something sheer like MAC Tendertalk Lip Balms (MAC; $21) which are my newest obsession right now! Any kind of tinted lip balm is perfect for a natural look and keep in mind using one with a little SPF when you can.
